It then made its first Bathurst 1000 appearance with Bob Jane and Ian Geoghegan behind the wheel in the 1977 edition of the Great Race. The pair qualified fifth with a lap time of 2: 25. 9 in their only Bathurst start together. The car also received the honour of the Dulux Refinisher Best Appearing Car Award.
