Antique 19th Century Egg Tempera Gilded Greek Orthodox Icon Saint Modestus 1800 Drawings & Prints This very handsome lidded tureenA fine antique hand painted and gilded Greek Orthodox icon, of Saint Modestos, circa 1800. The icon is hand painted with egg tempera paint on a wooden panel, with gilded accents to the saint's garments and halo, the green background with the saint's name written in black. To the center the figure of saint Modestos is depicted wearing brightly colored priestly vestments and is holding a bible in his left hand with his right hand in a gesture pointing
